OctPoWriMo Poem 14 – Honey

On a road I didn’t expect to travel
Almost lost
Nearly directionless
Following small remnants of a sign
I had seen at the main road:
Apples, Indian Corn, Local Honey

I took a turn and saw it
A glimpse of blue water among
a grove of golden birch

I stopped, left the car behind
Walked through golden leaves
Alight with sunlight
And stood on the pebbly beach
Honey forgotten
