OctPoWriMo Poem 16 – Jack Pines

You’ll find the place to start
Just past main street
In the park by the lake
Past the picnic shelter and baseball diamond
Empty in autumn
Go past where they’ve pulled in the dock for winter
At the first fork, hang a right
Walk behind the back yards of the last houses in town
Leave the path and cross over Settlers Meadow
Where the kids build their secret bonfires

Go into the woods on the far side
Watch out for nettles
Go further (its a ways)
You’ll find it suddenly

A stand of Jack pines
Dark behind the maples
