OctPoWriMo Poem 19 – Past

Until he invented his past
He didn’t realize how thrilling his life had been
Pleasant ghosts
Sea barges and comrades in portside cafes
The operatic affair with the
Mysterious woman in the villa at Lake Geneva
Pistol shots, burnt letters
A Bugatti abandoned on the outskirts of Prague
Smuggling himself into Budapest
With news from the Resistance
