OctPoWriMo Poem 22 – Low Wake

We took the boat one last time
Across the bay
Before bringing her in for the winter

A low wake behind us through the dark water
Searching for some ghost of our summer
Or even the summer before

At the channel to the big water
We turn wide and slow
Heading toward the dock
And the austerities of November
